Polyporus has a long history as a medicinal mushroom. It has been used as a traditional antibiotic for over a thousand years. Even the frozen mummy Ötzi carried some birch polypore, a mushroom similar to polyporus, apparently to fight off infections. But that’s not all what this mushroom has to offer.

Properties and ingredients of the polyporus medicinal mushroom
After being valued in China for 2000 years, today polyporus umbellatus is used worldwide as an edible and medicinal mushroom. The mushroom grows in the temperate climates of Europe and Asia in dense clusters of several hundred mushrooms, making it an impressive sight.
Polyporus umbellatus contains many important minerals such as calcium, potassium and iron, as well as trace elements such as copper, manganese and zinc, and valuable vitamins such as niacin and folic acid. It also contains specific polypeptides and polysaccharides, ergosterol and biotin.
Polyporus use cases in research and practice
Like many medicinal mushrooms, polyporus contains compounds that have antioxidant properties and can strengthen the immune system. The mushrooms is also of particular interest to scientists (and many others as well, for sure) for its ability to stimulate hair growth.

Capsules
In addition to the mushroom extract or powder, the capsules also contain organic Acerola extract, which has a very high vitamin C content. Studies have shown that vitamin C significantly improves the absorption of the ingredients in medicinal mushroom extracts.
The capsule hull is made of hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, so it’s completely vegan.
Cultivation and growing material
We grow our mushrooms in their natural habitat, the Chinese highlands, and rely on the expertise of local farmers.
Polyporus is one of our mushroom species that we don’t grow, but harvest from natural collection areas in northeastern China. The organic collection is done according to the actual valid EU regulations.
Food grade status
The products are suitable and safe for human consumption according to actual EU regulations (178/2002). According to the EU’s Novel Food Regulation (2015/2283), polyporus extracts and powders can be used in foods or beverages or as food supplements. You should still contact the appropriate authorities in your country to ensure that you can market and sell our raw materials.
Packaging
Powders and extracts are available in 1 kg, 5 kg and 25 kg containers, capsules in either 2000 or 5000 pieces/bag. All orders of 1 or 5 kg are packed in PE bags in a bucket, 25 kg orders come in a paper drum. All packaging that comes in contact with the edible raw materials comply with actual EU regulations.

Production methods
Extracts: Grinding mushroom fruiting bodies, metal detection, hot water extraction, centrifuging, spray-drying. Extraction ratio (indicative): 8:1 – 12:1. We standardize the polysaccharide content of the extracts at 30%.
Powder: Grinding mushroom fruiting bodies, metal detection.
Capsules: Weighing of the raw materials (powder or extract), mixing of the raw materials, encapsulation, cleaning of capsules.
Shelf life and storage conditions
For extracts and powders: 4 years when properly stored: at room temperature or lower, in a tightly closed package that keeps the raw materials protected from light, humidity and insects.
For capsules: 48 months after production date when properly stored: at a dry, cool place (room temperature or lower) and protected from sunlight.
