Pleurotus ostreatus (oyster mushhroom) enjoys great popularity and prominence around the world as an edible mushroom. After all, the mushroom known as the oyster mushroom grows virtually throughout the world. Its demand is also growing in its role as a dietary supplement. The fruiting bodies of the oyster mushroom grow in dense clusters, with a shell-shaped cap, mostly brown or grey, sitting on the light-coloured stem.
Pleurotus ostreatus contains amino acids as well as B vitamins, vitamins C and D, and folic acid. The beta-glucan pleuran is also one of its components.
